We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all (people) are endowed with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Does this mean or imply that people can harm others? I argue against that reasoning because one is then denying the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to others.
But what if one’s “pursuit of happiness” is to harm others? Well, in that case the individuals join together in order to prevent that from happening. Given that the individuals are able to separate from one another again.
But in doing so, the group is denying the individual’s right to happiness of harming others.
So, what is the best solution? Deny the rights of the general people to “life, liberty and happiness” by ensuring the rights of the harmful individual?
In the end, no just society exists without someone’s “rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” being infringed upon.
And it’s about time.
2016 was a crazy year. I am glad to be done with it.
I am also glad we have a new President. He might not be perfect but no one is.
To claim one is perfect, a foolish liar speaks.
In the past month, we have seen what happens when hate speech is treated equal to free expression. Specifically, “Pigs in a blanket, Fry them like bacon” and “Kill the police and white people.” I personally do not agree with these statements. They are detrimental to the safety of every citizen, as seen in Dallas members of a rally were also injured.
Yes, granted there are issues of individual racism in society. However, that does not mean that every single police officer is a racist, nor does it mean that every single person of a skin color is racist. In my opinion, the best solution is to look at the individual and hold them accountable for their actions. That is the whole idea of personal responsibility. When generalizations are made, many that have nothing to do with the issue are affected in a very negative way.
I do support the theory of Black Lives Matter, not the practical application. When there is a higher rate of murder of innocent people within a community, one might want to solve the issues closer to the community before applying solutions outside of the community.
Why is it that there are not many big name civil rights leaders going into Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and other predominately Black areas? Might it be due to the problem of theory needing to be revised when the practical application does not work?
I will respect the BLM, and any other activist program for the betterment of communities, when they stop saying slogans/ carrying banners and do some real community work. Real work such as educating the illiterate, organizing community business organizations and other real programs that are not supported by unseen and unaccountable funds.
Open up your mind/ Don’t be afraid to cry/ Everybody telling you all of their own nothing/ Hold me and tell me your everything. I don’t care what they say/ Only words of small minds projecting their own insecurities, too scared to realize real potential.
Real power is within the self. When you resist their need to conform, this will make you stand apart from the crowd. You will see the fear and regret that they did not resist the pressure to assimilate into a senseless pattern of thought. The only response left is to project themselves unto everyone else. After all is said and done, their remains of lives wasted are ifs and wishes. You walk away being firm in resolve to be more than the example of a mind stuck on a path not able to see the other roads that are around.
However, you must try to help them turn from the path of a mind held in muck and mire. It will be their choice to accept or deny your advice. Let them open their mind, listen without as they release what is within. This will be the most difficult part of the exchange as you are being attacked verbally with preconceived notions or uninformed opinions.
When I realized that my circumcision was not normal, I researched as much as I could. I found that it started due to religious reasons. Later it continued for health reasons, if the intact penis is not cleaned it will become infected.
In current times, people are fighting against Female Genital mutilation. Yet, not so many are fighting against Male Genital mutilation.
Is there a difference between mutilation of Males and Females? If considering Female mutilation more important an issue than Male mutilation, is this not discrimination?
